I have been writing and performing stand-up comedy since my early twenties. In the mid to late 1990's I created a comedy character named Dr. Nigel Cummerbund for my one man shows. Since I would be appearing at theatre festivals and conferences I decided I should develop a logo. The most memorable characteristics of the character are his hair and glasses so I made that the central focus of my logo design. The panel below left shows the logo along with the business card design that I originally created.
While I was in training at Vancouver Film School I had the opportunity to recreate the logo as vector art and incorporate it into a mockup of a CD cover for Dr. Nigel. A key advantage of vector art is that the image can easily be resized without losing quality. This will come in handy for some large signs I plan to create in 2011.
